Prototype Design, Engineering, and Fabrication
Kraken
I always wanted to build a Mono-wheel vehicle, but I never liked the instability of the Mono-wheel design. This is why I decided to fabricate a trike, but utilize the design style of the mono-wheel for all 3 of the wheels. As the concept evolved, it took on a curvy organic shape that resembled the tentacles of an octopus. I took that nautical theme and ran with it dubbing the creation as "THE KRAKEN". This prototype is powered by a Perkins 800cc 2-cylinder diesel engine, and Comet 780 CVT system. The CVT drives a friction roller on the ID of the main drive ring. The Diesel engine also drives a GM style power steering pump and Eaton orbital valve that controls two hydraulic rams that lean the vehicle for steering. This Project is still in progress, but very close to completion.
