Electric Drag Minibike

(Weekend Build)

Using scrap and multiple parts left over from other builds at the shop, I threw together this simple electric drag racing minibike over the course of a weekend.  The 8 Miluwakee M18 batteries wired together at 36v makes over 21,600 watts of power energizing the 24v semi-truck starter with enough torque to pull the front wheel off the ground for the first 30ft.  Before I even had a chance to recharge the batteries for a second test run, production was all over this project wanting it for an episode of the show.  They requested that I turn up the power for the show version of the drag bike, and Makita was willing to sponsor as many batteries as I wanted for the new project. So 20 Makita batteries later, I had modified the design to 72v and over 72,000 watts of potential power.  The old chassis could not handle the new 100 hp shot of electricity, so I rebuilt the frame, stretched, lowered and raked it out for high speed performance.  0-60 and top speed still to be determined
